Chat History
Every chat is kept until you delete it, so you can always go back to how an issue was planned or built.
All chats
All chats (#/agent/history), opened from the Agent view's header or the history button in the status bar, lists every chat in one table.
- Find — search by title, switch between Active and Archived, and filter by agent, period (7 days, 30 days, all) or issue.
- Usage — the strip at the top totals chats, tokens in and out, and cost for the rows you're looking at. Hover a chat's agent for its turns, tokens and cost. Codex doesn't report cost, so its chats show "—".
- Manage — rename, archive, unarchive or delete a chat, or select several and act on them at once.
Chats get a short title from the agent after the first reply. A title you rename is never replaced. Work Mode chats are titled after their issue.
Archive
Archiving a chat takes it out of the recent lists, the switcher and the pills. It opens read-only with an Unarchive banner. You can't archive a chat while it is replying or in Work Mode. The board archives chats older than 30 days on its own; only you delete them.
Chats on issues
Issues show the chats that worked on them:
- Chat pill — backlog rows and board cards show a pill with the number of chats. Click it to open the chat, or a list of the issue's chats.
- Issue details — a "k chats" row below Relations opens the same list.
- Context menu — right-click an issue for Open work chat and a Chats submenu.
Status at a glance
Chat pills and the recent-chats lists show what each chat is doing:
| Sign | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Spinner | Replying |
| Yellow dot | Waiting on your approval or answer |
| Blue dot | Finished a reply you haven't seen |
| Red dot | Interrupted |
| Red alert circle | The last turn failed; hover for the error |
| Hammer | Idle, in Work Mode |
The browser tab's icon gets a dot too: amber while any chat waits on you, blue when a reply finished while the tab was in the background.
Desktop notifications are off until you turn them on with the bell in the Agent view's header. Then a chat that starts waiting on you while the tab is hidden shows "Agent needs your input" with its title. Click it to jump to the chat. Finished replies don't notify; the tab icon covers those.
Cache expiry
Agents cache the conversation for a few minutes (Claude for 5 minutes or an hour, Codex for about 5 minutes). Once that expires, a dashed Context cache expired divider appears: your next message re-sends the whole conversation, which costs more on a long chat.
